Donegal Sea Salt founded by John Slater and Caroline Nyhan in Cranford, Mulroy Bay re-establishes a tradition for salt making in the area dating back hundreds of years. Seawater pumped from their private seawater well is filtered through fine mesh and transferred to a polytunnel for solar evaporation. As the brine concentrates so crystals form on the surface and as the crystals grow heavier, they sink to the bottom from where they are harvested.
