About Desmond Cheese
Milleens is a soft, washed-rind cheese made from cows milk on the rugged Beara peninsula of South West Ireland. The complex and delicate cheese is made from the milk of Friesian cows grazing the mountains and pastures of the peninsula. Milleens is the longest established Irish farmhouse cheese.

We visited this small, local cheese shop that was a hidden gem. We bought three different cheeses, all delicious. It's an easy spot to miss while traveling, but definitely worth visiting if you enjoy local specialties and charming, authentic experiences.
Come with cash on hand! Very affordable, just doesn't take cards. Based on local advice, give them a call before stopping by--just to make sure they're available to have you come through. Go ahead and look at their website, too, if you're unfamiliar with the product. It's a particular kind of cheese-- and the info on the website is a good jumping-off point to know what you're getting. We were lucky and got to catch some of their Camembeara summer cheese. We got about three different varieties
Amazing cheeses, they are all delicious and really well presented - makes a fantastic Christmas present. It's lovely being able to call up to the farm and buy directly from the family too.
